About The Author: Prince Sahibzada Sayyid Shareef Ghulam Muhammad Sultan Khan Sahib, KCSI (1795–1872), born in Srirangapatnam, was the youngest son of Tipu Sultan. Following his family's deportation to Calcutta in 1806, seven years after his father's defeat and death, the Government of India officially recognized him as the family head and successor to Tipu Sultan. As the last surviving son of Tipu Sultan, he was knighted in 1870 and passed away two years later at the age of 77, succumbing to dengue fever in Tollygunge, Calcutta.
